(a) Jesus Knew and Counted the Cost – in the Light of His Glory, His Love, and His Joy.

Then He said to them, “But who do you say that I am? And Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

And He strictly charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”  And He said to all, “If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me. “… Luke 9:20-22

And behold, two men were talking with Him – Moses and Elijah – who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus, which He was about to accomplish in Jerusalem. Luke 9:31

But while they were marveling at everything He said, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.” Luke 9:43b-44

(b) Love’s Resolute Choice: “Jesus steadfastly/resolutely set his face to go to Jerusalem.”

Hebrews  12:2 … Who – for the joy that was set before Him – endured the cross, despising the shame….

The Good Shepherd’s Love [John 10:18]  “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, Who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are One.” John 10:27-30
