The book of Nehemiah doesn't end with a "happily ever after." Here we see a frustrated reformer fighting against a covenant-breaking people. Although we are not called to imitate all of Nehemiah's actions in this chapter, he does demonstrate a zeal for God, which should mark the lives of all God's people.

The people of God repopulate the city of Jerusalem and dedicate the walls to the Lord. In doing so, we see them embracing God's mission, submitting to God's will, and praising God's name.

Undivided Devotion to the Lord

The Lord wants our undivided devotion to him. In the days of Nehemiah, the people experience revival and renew their commitments to the Lord. Specifically, they return to their separation, Sabbath keeping, and stewardship. What changes do we need to make in our lives in order to be fully devoted to the Lord?
