“Hypostatic Union” : Christian Council of Chalcedon, 451 AD

“Immanuel”

Missionary Jesus:

1) Jesus came into a sinful culture as a missionary

2) Jesus got close to and learned about a sinful culture

3) Jesus did not condone sin, nor did he personally sin

Cross of Jesus:

The importance of the cross to the church is that apart from Jesus’ death on it in our place for our sins, the church does not exist and has no good news to tell. – Driscoll
