When Conflict Tempts Me To Quit

If you were to look at your life from the perspective of an enemy hostile to your spiritual interests, where would you attack? What would be the vulnerable places that have the most potential in derailing your faith and life as a follower of Jesus Christ? For some, these come from external pressures. For others the pressures are internal, pushing from the inside out. One of the major internal pressures in families, marriages, and churches that tempt us to quit are interpersonal conflicts. Nehemiah gives us some strategies for facing the pressure of when conflict tempts me to quit.

Yet I Will Rejoice

Sometimes our heart doesn't feel what our head knows. To be thankful for a day because someone tells us to be doesn't get to the core of the issue. What does it take to make me happy? What does it take to make me unhappy? The second question is usually easier to answer. Habakkuk was a complaining prophet through which we learn something about where we invest for our sense of happiness. Note: Opening 5 minutes of introduction to the sermon was not recorded.

Getting Past Day 26

Have you ever started something and left it half done? Midpoints are tough. The excitement of beginning is past and seeing the end is not yet in sight. In Nehemiah 4 we see God's people needing to persevere in the rebuilding and renewing work He had called them to do. What did Nehemiah do to help the people to persevere? Where might we need help to persevere?

Finding My Place On The Wall

The words - Next to them - are repeated over and over in Nehemiah 3, as the people of God take up the call to rebuild the broken state of the walls of Jerusalem, and give us a vivid illustration of how God intends for His people to share in the ministry that He calls the church into. There is a corporate calling in which we share with individual responsibilities. God has equipped each one of us for taking up our Place on the Wall

A Vision of Jesus

The book of Revelation has often been viewed as a book that is about understanding End Times events but it is far more than that. It was a letter to a group of churches that were experiencing increasing pressure on their faith. In the midst of suffering an unveiling of Jesus Christ was given in His glory and power. What is the answer to living through the experience of suffering? An Exalted Vision of the Lord Jesus Christ!
