Happiness as most of us understand it depends on our circumstances. God offers us joy that no one and no thing can take from us.
This is the first in a series of messages on idolatry in America today. It focuses on the nature of idolatry and then considers the idol of Affluenza, always wanting bigger, better, newer, more. Then it offers God's cure from scripture.
The Apostle Paul wrote, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." What does that mean? This message looks at this statement in the context of the rest of Philippians chapter 4.
Joy comes as we rejoice in the Lord rather than our efforts. Joy comes as a gift not an accomplishment.
Christ emptied himself to take human form, connecting with humanity where we are, as we are, even to the point of death. Therefore God exalted him, revealing to us that this is the way to true life. We are to reach out to others as they are in ways that show them God's love through us. God works through our caring in transforming ways. This is resurrection living.
