As For Me And My House
Joshua 24:14-15
Joshua 24:14-15 (New King James Version)
14 “Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

History behind this passage
-
Israel
-
Joshua
-
One of the spies
-
Took over as leader from Moses
-
-
-
Joshua was telling Israel to choose.
-
There were/are only 2 choices
-
Serve the gods of our fathers
-
Serve the Lord
-
-
Today we must also choose. Each day we must choose.
-
Choose between doing the things of our old life that we know are against God's plan and intentions for us.
-
Choose between the poor relationships we have had over the years or the good and perfect relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
-
Choose between serving the prince of this world, the prince of darkness, the accuser of the brethren, the enemy of our souls and serving the Lord, the Most High God, the Creator, the Author and Perfector of Life.
-
-
-
We must be on the team, not in the stands.
-
Today is the Super Bowl.
-
Players are on the field
-
Fans and spectators are in the stands
-
-
In this Super Bowl of life:
-
Are you a player on the field?
-
Are you in the stands?
-
-
-
As we continue this year we will be talking more and more about the Mission of God, our tasks as His servants, what our goals and purposes are, and why we do the things we do.
If you are here as a spectator, you aren't going to enjoy the ride. You will be bored at times, you will feel conviction from the Holy Spirit at times. You will get upset with the messages and conversations you hear sometimes. Too bad.
If you are a player, if you are on the field, you will be energized, you will be charged up, you will be ready to some serious devil butt kicking. Because friends, God sent His son so that none should perish. NONE! God also chose us to be the light bearers, the standard bearers, the vehicle to spread His message. We are to live out the two greatest commandments.-
Love the Lord Your God
-
Love your neighbor as yourself
-
As for me and my house, we WILL SERVE the Lord!
