Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 51

It is not surprising to us that for thousands of years the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been proclaimed many thousands of times. This same Gospel has fallen on ears that could hear and ears that could not hear. Nor is it surprising that for thousands of years people have sacrificed their lives for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to go out into this world and yet, most of the people who have heard the precious Gospel of Jesus Christ have rejected it outright, even though it was important enough for some to lay down their lives so they could hear about Jesus. There have even been thousands of near death experiences that force people to face their own mortality and the majority of those people still refuse to seriously consider what eternity holds for them.

Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 50

The parables are about salvation and these are no different. Jesus uses these parables to express the power and the sovereignty of the kingdom of God, the goal being to galvanize the significance of salvation through Christ. These two brief parables are spoken in the synagogue and the third parable is spoken as he resumes his journey to Jerusalem.

Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 49

This morning we are going to read about a miracle. The account of this miracle is, in one way, kind of unique. It is unique in that the person who received this miracle is not on record of asking for the miracle. And yet, Jesus saw a need and met it in a miraculous way. Throughout the New Covenant we have seen Jesus miraculously intervene in the lives of people for one primary purposeā€“to identify himself with God the Father and solidify his true identity as Messiah. This is why there were times when Jesus refused to perform miracles. He refused to perform miracles if they would be interpreted as magic tricks or for the glory of anyone (or anything) other than his Father.

Preparing the Way for Jesis, Part 48

The parables of Jesus were intended to deliver his Gospel to those who could hear, in other words, for those who would be saved. However, those same parables would galvanize the hearts of those who would not be saved. The parables of Jesus had one primary message. A. The main message of each parable was the Gospel of Jesus Christ. B. The focus of each parable was always the consequences suffered by those who rejected His gospel and the blessings upon those who received His gospel. C. The parables also illustrated how some will receive his Gospel and the circumstances that lead to some rejecting his Gospel. D. The parables were NOT about LOSS of salvation.
