Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 15

Should the Sabbath be important to Christians? God created Adam and built within them a need to rest IN GOD on the seventh day. We need physical rest. We need emotional rest. We need to rest from toil. We need spiritual rest. In addition to the benefits of rest found in the scriptures, medical science agrees that proper rest is necessary for ones physical and emotional health. Rest is essential for the body to be able to concentrate on areas that need healing.

Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 14

Last week the question: "How serious was the leadership of the Jews when it came to keeping the Sabbaths?", was answered. They were "dead" serious in keeping the Sabbath. So, what are we to do with the Sabbath? But first there is another question that must be answered because it is at the very heart of this issue. - Did Jesus keep the laws of the Sabbath? If we are to believe that Jesus broke even one law would mean that Jesus was a sinner and God cannot be God AND sinner. Is the Sabbath still important to God? Should the Sabbath still be important to believers in Christ?

Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 13

Of all the things Christ did during His earthly ministry, His approach to the Sabbath was the most controversial, other than claiming to be God. The Pharisees, Scribes, Sadducees and Chief Priests were in danger of losing their power, prestige, and careers if Jesus were able to continue to preach and teach His message. And of course we know this message to be The Gospel, which when translated boils down to “Christ and Christ alone” is all we need. To fully understand why they chose the Sabbath to entrap Him, it would benefit us to familiarize ourselves with the importance God placed upon this commandment and the penalties for breaking it.

Warfare of the Heart

Are we searching for the earthly rather than for the eternal? Are we looking for what Jesus can give us rather than Jesus Himself? Living in a self-sustaining culture, we tend to forget to give God the glory for what He has provided. Jesus is enough; there is no substitute.

Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 12

For most of the people who physically touched Jesus, their life was dramatically transformed from a life of spiritual emptiness and fear to a life of purpose and joy. In short, when people touched Jesus they became whole. Although they had found many things to occupy their time and energy they had not found peace. Does this sound like our world today? Those who belong to Christ are free from false religion and the need for a good self-image because our identity is in Christ. Self-image is not a biblical concept. It is a worldly concept to get us to focus on ourselves instead of who we are in Christ!
