Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 67

Jesus is on his way to the cross. He has resolutely set his eyes on Calvary and we are witnessing his final journey to Jerusalem. He is concluding three years of ministry that began with a miracle in Canaan at a wedding feast and will conclude with restoring the sight of a blind beggar. Jesus gathers the twelve disciples around him. Just the twelve into whom he has poured his life. And he says something in a very personal and intimate way. Jesus was very honest and bold with them concerning his mission and what they could expect to see.

Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 71

This is our third week studying this parable of the nobleman who journeys to a far country and then returns to reward those whom he left in charge while he was away.Jesus was preparing to enter Jerusalem for the third time in his adult ministry,he was becoming more and more direct in his parables. Although he was directly addressing what was about to take place, no one was getting the message. Had they truly understood this parable his life may have been in danger before reaching Jerusalem.

Preparing the Way for Jesis, Part 48

The parables of Jesus were intended to deliver his Gospel to those who could hear, in other words, for those who would be saved. However, those same parables would galvanize the hearts of those who would not be saved. The parables of Jesus had one primary message. A. The main message of each parable was the Gospel of Jesus Christ. B. The focus of each parable was always the consequences suffered by those who rejected His gospel and the blessings upon those who received His gospel. C. The parables also illustrated how some will receive his Gospel and the circumstances that lead to some rejecting his Gospel. D. The parables were NOT about LOSS of salvation.

Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 56

The world is filled with families who are broken and hurting. The world is full of single parent families who are struggling in almost every aspect of life; finances, relationships, raising their children, trying to make decisions that can make them feel very alone and vulnerable. There are families who have remained together but are no less challenged with raising children who have strayed from the family or their faith. Regardless of the circumstances, as a parent, there are always plenty of opportunities for anxiety and concern. Some have yet to have the privilege of being in a marriage and/or with children. And that carries its own set of anxieties and concerns. Regardless of our age, marital status, with our without children, God’s desire is to bring all of us to a place where we realize that what we thought would make us whole and happy without him, can only be realized within him. AND how we live our lives on our journey to repentance and especially our journey following our repentance, matters.

Preparing the Way for Jesus, Part 54

Christ’s message at this time (as always) was a very bold message concerning repentance and salvation. Jesus was addressing the problem of sin “head on.” And he was addressing the only way to rid themselves of sin which was to acknowledge who he was and sacrifice everything. As a result of this bold message the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him. As he continued to boldly speak truth the interest of the lost was stirred and they found themselves inexplicably drawn to him.
