The Removal of Things that Are Shaken
There will be vindication for some but for some there will be great fear and judgment as for all eternity those who are shaken will experience the full wrath of God as He punishes those who have refused His Law and shunned His grace. The warnings of God's wrath are horrible. Anyone who hears the warnings should run to Christ and to the blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

The City of God
As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ we have come to the Mountain of God empty handed knowing that we could never atone for our sins. We have come to the Mountain of God seeking the City of God, the Heavenly Jerusalem which is our eternal home where we will be able to look upon the Lord and behold His glory forever and ever. We will not have boundaries put up between God and us because our mediator sits at the right hand of God forever making intercession for us to the Father.

We are to work diligently against any “root of bitterness†in the church. We are to work diligently against anyone falling into apostasy or great sin.

My purpose in preaching this passage is to show that we all bear spiritual responsibility for one another. We are our brothers and our sisters keepers. We are to be spiritually watchful of what is taking place not only in our own lives but also in each other’s lives as well. And I want you to understand that not being spiritually concerned and watchful is a violation of this command to the church.

The reason I am focusing in on verse 14 this morning is so that we can all grasp the importance of our participation in biblical church discipline. And we need to understand that peace and holiness are two marks of a true church.

Another Call to Endurance
1. We are to prop up or support what is weak. 2. We are to live in a manner that promotes holiness. One of the fantastic truths of the Christian life is that we need the Lord. He is our strength and our shield. But another truth is that we need each other. And the Lord has designed the Christian life this way. There are no Lone Ranger Christians. I need all of you in order to live and endure in the Christian life and you all need me and each other. We do not run this race alone.

The Sanctification of our Affliction
The reason I am preaching this passage this morning is so we can come to appreciate and sanctify our affliction that the Lord gives us as we run the race set before us with endurance. From our text, Hebrews 12:5-11, we need to see two very important biblical facts concerning the discipline of the Lord that we need to understand. 1. We must understand that discipline is a fact of the Christian life. 2. We must understand that sanctified affliction brings forth the fruit of discipline.
