 The ten virgins went forth to meet the bridegroom with their lamps.

 First of all the virgins went forth to meet the bridegroom - which shows that we have to move forward, we need to be progressive to meet the bridegroom when he comes in the midair.

 What is the lamp the virgins carried along with them - it is the lamp given unto man by God which is his spirit (spirit of man).   This is what we are expected to carry along with us to meet the bridegroom, our spirit we hand it over safely back to God, who gave it to him in the Garden of Eden.

 Eccl 3:2, Eccl 8:8, Eccl 12: 7 speaks about the tendency of the spirit of man to go upward, no one has the authority to leave or to hold his spirit, the spirit goes back to God who gave it to him respectively.

 We bornagain people of God should be vigilant to preserve the new bornagain  spirit through Jesus Christ until the day of His coming.  Because there is always war between the spirit and the flesh.

 How can we preserve and  prepare our spirits to meet the bridegroom –

 Matt 26: 41 – Watch and pray.

 Gal 5:16,17,18 – Put sin to death and not your spirit.

Rom 8: 13   - If you live in flesh you shall die but if you mortify the works of flesh you

                      shall live.

II Co 4:16   - Though your outward man perish, your inward man is renewed day by day.

 You should keep your spirit (salvation) like a blazing torch (Isa 62:1) for which you have to work hard in spirit (phil 2:12) without as God also promises to work on our spirit/salvation withoutrest in the above verse.
