Am I My Brothers Keeper!?

"Am I my brothers keeper?" This rhetorical question from Cain continues to this day. No doubt was Cain's question sinful. But despite it's sinfulness it reveals something that God intends for his people to understand: To love God necessarily means you love his people. If you are a Christian, are your brothers keeper? The answer is a resounding YES!

Called to be Children of God and Righteous!

What a joy it is be called a child of God! There is no greater privilege one has than knowing you have been adopted into God's family through the person and work of Jesus Christ! But coupled with being made a child of God is the reality of having a life that is lived in righteousness. John, in this passages, makes it plain: believers are called to be children of God and righteous!

The Profile of the Antichrists and The Profile of the Christian

The bible makes it clear that Satan exists. But what is even clearer in the bible is that there are those who are his messengers, known by the same name given to Satan, Antichrist! They are among us! Who are they and what do their lives look like? John gives a profile of these antichrists and gives a corresponding profile of the Christian.

Who Do You Love?

The Christian life is full of paradoxes, but one great paradoxes in the Christian life is this: In order to love, you must hate. Admittedly, that sounds strange, does it not? A Christian with a call to hate? Yes, it is true that Christians are called to love, but it all depends on what one loves (or more accurately Who one loves!) The chief aim of the Christian is to love the Lord his God with all his heart, soul, mind and strength; Christians are to love God supremely. This necessarily means, then, that all other affections are hollow and empty, all other affections are vain and unprofitable, all affections that are not reserved for the one true and living God are idolatrous. So with a loving but stern warning, the Apostle John commands the believer not to love the world!
