Our human minds are troubled with forgetfulness. But God in his grace, constantly reminds us, just as he did Abraham. With a sign (circumcision) and a ceremony (cutting up animals), God reconfirms his intent to bless Abraham, and foreshadows the gospel which is a circumcision of the heart.
