The School of Hard Knocks is the only kind of school that some people have learned much from. But learning from experience takes a long time, and it often brings a lot of pain. Life has a way of coming back to bite sometimes, and the teeth go in deep and leave scars. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone could tell us all the pitfalls of life to avoid? And not tell us based on their own experience which may be flawed, but tell us based on the experience of knowing absolutely everything? Here’s the good news: God, in his amazing grace, tells us all the pitfalls of life to avoid. And he does not tell us based on his own experience, but based on his complete knowledge of the world that he has created. God’s amazing grace is a teacher—it is how God shapes us for life in this world. God’s amazing grace is designed to keep us out of the school of hard knocks. It tells us the end of the journey before we go down the road. Now, if only we can learn to listen and trust his word.
