Who Are You Like?

The Old Testament contains stories of people who are just like us. They are people who live in dysfunctional families where backbiting, deception, treachery, bitterness, and anger occur everyday. When Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob, and Esau get together in Genesis 27, we see a messed up family who does everything wrong, and yet God's grace still uses this family to bring his promise of salvation to the world. In Genesis 27, we can see a little bit of ourselves in all of these characters, and a lot of ourselves in at least one of them. See who you are like and what you need to do to be like the Savior who died for people like this.

So in this time of great famine, in this time of darkness of men, those who disbelieve that great blessing will come will die in their unbelief. If we disbelieve that the kingdom of God will come, we will perish in our disbelief.
If we eat sumptiously like Lazarus and don't make provision for the future like the shrewd steward, for the time of glory ahead to come, we will be fools in the sight of the Lord for having doubted that our labor in the lord would be rewarded. And there will be great lament!
The foolish unbeliever, like those of times past, was trampled underfoot by the believing crowd. Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth, but if we loose our taste will be trampled underfoot by that mulitude that do believe of the coming blessing to come.
So what are you like? What are you going to do about it? Avoid the great lament ahead for some!!
