This is the second part in our study through Chapter 13 of the Gospel of Mark. Chapter 13 consists of Jesus answering a two-fold question from the disciples. The first part of that question was “when will these things happen”; when will the temple be destroyed. The second part of the question was “when is the close of the age”. That is what Chapter 13 is about – that is the context – the answer to these questions. In this study, we look at the fact that the temple was destroyed in 70 AD. The work that we need to do is to determine whether the prophesy that Jesus made on Wednesday of passion week while sitting on the Mount of Olives was fulfilled in 70 AD or whether it is referring to something else.
