This message is the second message on godly submission. Child to parent submission and obedience is a reoccurring theme in the scriptures. What can be seen in the many references to this relationship is they are often in contained in teachings about avoiding idols and falling into sin. Children are to honor their parents because their parents have the wisdom and understanding that can bring you closer to God and help you avoid sin, pain, shame, and even hell. While this behavior from the children is essential, it is just as important that the parents live a life that will draw their kids closer to God. Parents, without your own commitment to God is not practical to think that you kids will witness hypocrisy and want anything to do with it. It should be the goal of our parenting that our children grow up in a home where they experience God in their daily lives.
