We have just witnessed the spectacle of the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is a display of the utmost fanaticism of sport fans. Anyone who would spend around $30,000 to attend a single event is devoted fan. We see a similar display of devotion in Mark 14. The devotion that we see in Mark 14 is a devotion that is more consistent with the devotion on at the Super Bowl than is on display in most Churches this morning. This person does something that most of us would think is absurd and a waste of money. However, the Bible tells us that this type of devotion is appropriate and is an example that we should emulate. In the first 11 verses of Chapter 14, we see four different responses to Jesus. As we get into them, we will see that all of these responses are based on an assessment of worth… the worth of Jesus. Have you ever really thought about how we live our lives as being a reflection on the value that we assign to Jesus? That is what we all do. We are constantly making value decisions… I would even argue that every decision is a value decision. When we make a decision we are assigning a greater value to one item over another. That is how we can differentiate. So, what is the value of Jesus to you?
