Sermon Cloud

This rich young ruler was an idolater, who worshiped another god. That problem was that he did not know it. If he would do one thing, it would be to get rid of the other god and love the Lord with all his heart, soul and mind. He was not willing to do that and walked away. The question that lies before all of us from this passage “is what will you do”? We can see that this rich young ruler had a heart issue. His problem was that he unknowingly was an idolater - he loved his many possession / he loved the security that they brought him / he loved the access that they entitled him to / he loved the respect and admiration that he received from them / he love how they made him feel. He loved his possession more than he loves God. That is what made him an idolater. The question that we have to ask ourselves is whether we are any different than the rich young ruler
