This message is a conclusion to a three part message on godly submission. Slaves obeying masters can be synonymous with our jobs, responsibilities, and trials that we face. Working as if you work for God could be your greatest evangelical tool for sharing the gospel with the unbelieving world. Demonstrating that your faith, power, and comfort come from your hope in Jesus Christ and not your earthly circumstances allows us to continue in spite of any earthly reward, knowing that our reward lies in heaven. One implication that can be drawn from this message is that sometimes God doesn’t take us out of tough circumstances, he desires for us to strive through them in faith. After all, the verse doesn’t tell slaves to pray to be released of slavery. Instead, it calls slaves to change their heart attitude to one that honors God.
