Certainly in circles of evangelicals the older son is worst of the two, thinking about the younger. The younger says, I don't want you as king over me, hear that before?, and they saidth, we will not have you as king over us! and they killed the son to take over the vineyard.
Yes, the younger saidth to his father, we will not have you rule over us, give me what's mine and I will rule over my own life. Its similiar to the grace of some, father give me what is mine and from there I will determine how I will treat that inheritance you are giving me.
In today' circles it is, I will do as I like with the freedom that I have. Since we have the grace of our father, fine, but from there will will go to a far country, dark place where you cannot see me and I will turn your grace in to liteciousness or lewdeness, its Jude, yes.
Ever hear of we are saved by faith alone, then, whola we are on our own, to do as we please. Forget the agenda of Jesus. Jesus is love, he'll understand. And the father looking in at far away saw his son coming and he ran...that part we like. But first we have to feed the swine and desire their food before we come home and be part of the party.
If only I was a servant in my fathers house? That's where the celebration began. We began to wish to be servants.
I thought this was about the older son? Well he was a servant but he did not understand what a privilige it was to be so yet like the returning younger son. Yes, grace is privilige like nothing else and we should not shun the idea that we could at least be servant to that gracious father of ours even if he always treats us as sons.
