Conquered: Part 1

This sermon asks one simple, yet profound question: "What will I do with the cross?" Every one of us stands in desperate need of Christ and the cross. We had a debt to be paid due to our sin and God Himself paid it. There was a penalty to be born and God Himself bore it. So what do we do in response to such amazing mercy & grace? Will we run toward it or from it? Will we explore and embrace it or ignore it? What will you do with the cross?

Grander Vision Living

There are many things in this life that we place a high value on; things like our home, our car(s), nice clothes, the latest technology and the list continues. But none of these things will last, they are all temporary. Christ-followers who choose to live the Grander Vision walk through their days with a keen awareness that it is people, not things, who deserve our focus and our attention. Every person we meet is a child of God- and is worthy of being redeemed. Our challenge is to see people the way God sees them.

The Power of Story

At Harbor, we believe that our story is part of a much larger and grander narrative; one that breathes significance and purpose into our own. In this sermon Jed points us to the teaching of Paul in 2 Corinthians where we learn that God has given us the task of reconciliation; of saying to people, 'you can come back to God.' We get to be a part of introducing people to God's story.

Living In 3D

Our mission at Harbor of Hope is to help people find their way back to God, and this sermon contains practical instruction on how each of us can partner with our Creator to do so. Jed encourages us, that as believers we need to talk less and listen more; we need to care about people & develop relationships, not because it makes for a good marketing strategy for God, but because it's a relfection of God's priorities.

The Single Greatest Gift

The question at the heart of this message (and for that matter, the entire series) is: 'What would happen if we were to take a few steps across a room?' Is it possible that we could actually impact someone's eternal destiny- maybe even the eternity of their family members and friends? Is it possible that we could change the course of an entire family history by simply taking steps toward someone who may be headed toward a Christ-less eternity?

Just Keeps On Loving

The Bible paints a beautiful picture of love; a God designed love. It's often different than what we experience in our lives, but it is possible for us to love those around us with a deep and extravagant kind of love. In this sermon Jed helps explain how.

Love Is...Love Is Not...

Love; we all want it, some might say it's one of the very few things in life that we actually need, yet it can be one of the hardest things to find. Some people search for it their entire lives and come up empty handed. In this sermon Jed explains that for us to find true love we must first know what love is and what it is not. Ultimately, in Jesus, we see a perfect and beautiful picture of the love of God

Annoying Orchestras & the Neighbor Down the Street

What is the mark of true and genuine Spirituality. Paul describes it with one word in I Corinthians 13: Love. In this sermon Jed reminds us that it's easy to love people who we like, but much harder to love when it costs us something. Many of the opportunities that God gives us to love don't come at convinient times, but if we are going to emulate the love God has shown us, then we must learn to love indiscriminantly.

No Longer Lost

We lose things all the time; our keys, a matching sock, a receipt etc, but what happens when we become lost. In this sermon, Paul reminds us that we all experience times in "the land of the lost;" times of Spiritual wandering plagued by doubts. But the God who made us reveals Himself in Scripture to be like a Father who chooses to love His children, even when we, like prodigal sons and daughters, choose to go our own way. In fact, God is more interested in a relationship with us than He is in being right.
