Rebuilding a People
From our childhood, people are drawn to the art and science of building. Erector sets, Lincoln logs, Duplo blocks and LEGO have captured the affection of generations. Eventually everything that has been built will ultimately need to be rebuilt (including people). In Nehemiah Chps. 7 & 8 we see that God's plan for Nehemiah an for us is to be involved with the rebuilding of broken people. Jesus -"All you ever do...is change the old for New" (from the worship song My Glorious)

Stick to the Plan
Distraction, Diversion and Discrediting are all ways that are used to make followers of Jesus Christ deviate (go off course) from the plan that God has for their life. It is easy to get sidetracked and derailed by even good things. The goal of the believer must be to pursue the best thing, the plan that God has for them. Regarding following Christ we need to keep it simple and stick to the plan.

In$ide Out
Some of the most destructive opposition we will face in our lives does not come at us from the outside. The insidious nature that is found on the inside will destroy much more quickly. In Nehemiah chapter 5 we find that God's chosen people are imploding with sin from the Inside out. The catalyst for the sin is the love of money. If we are going to see God build his church and his kingdom then his people are going to need to be transformed from the Inside Out.

overcoming OPPOSITION
Into every life a little rain must fall...that's an understatement when the deluge of opposition hits your life. Jesus said in John 16:33, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Overcoming opposition is not as easy at it sounds but for the follower in Jesus Christ it not only possible but expected. Learn from Nehemiah the 2400 yr. old secrets of overcoming Opposition.

motion
MOTION: noun - the action or process of moving or being moved. When it comes to our lives we all want to have momentum but there will be no momentum if don't courageously get into motion. Jesus did not say to the disciples, "come and stand by me". He said, "come and follow me". Nehemiah 2:11-20 chronicles a man whom God has stirred and has been set in in motion. We must embrace with Nehemiah that our faith is meant to be active.

Ready for GOD to Move
In the C.S. Lewis book series the Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe there is a statement that is often repeated... 'Aslan is on the Move'. God is always moving whether we see it clearly or not. The question is, "Are we ready for God to Move" in us? Getting ready for God to Move is often a process involving prayer, planning and purpose. We need to be ready to submit our plans to him and embrace his vision for our lives.

God's Vision for My Life
What happens when your plan for your life collides with God's plan/vision for your life? Someone must prevail, there cannot be two opposing visions living in harmony. In this amazing book of Nehemiah God will teach us to submit our plans and our lives to his vision for our lives. The process of submitting involves a lot of prayer and is harder than it sounds. May the Lord reveal his vision for us and may we respond to it appropriately.

Jesus
It's about Jesus, it's always been about Jesus, it will always be about Jesus... in the closing chapter of the letter of 1 John, the apostle John is driving home what it means to know, love and obey Jesus. There should be no mistake that Jesus is not like other religious leaders. He is totally exclusive by his claims to be the "only" way -John 14:6. He is also totally inclusive in providing the forgiveness for sins for everyone. When one understands who Jesus is, he/she should respond to his call to "come and follow me".

a Beautiful Contrast
Comparison and Contrast are amazing learning tools for teaching discernment and judgement skills. The Apostle John in his letter of 1 John masterfully uses contrast to teach what knowing, obeying and loving Christ truly look like. Light vs. Dark, Actions vs. mere words, Knowing Christ vs. Knowing about Christ, the Spirit of Truth vs. a spirit of falsehood are a few of the contrasts used in this short letter. Ultimately our lives are meant to be a beautiful contrast with those who live for and love the world. A Beautiful Contrast: We are great sinners and we have a Great Savior, Jesus Christ.

children of God
childish or childlike? It has been said that "God has no Grandchildren only Children". Everyone who wants to be a child of God must come into His family the same way. There must be a spiritual rebirth in order to have new life. God wants you to be his child, he wants his children to live for him and to love like him.
