These are questions that Gideon asked.  These are questions we ask as well!

1.  God, if you are so close to us, why to terrible things happen?

2.  God, why don't you appear to us and speak to us like you did our ancestors in the Bible?

3.  God, if you think that we are strong and gifted individual of your creation, why do we feel so afraid?

 

God gives Gideon a mission as an answer to his questions.  If Gideon is to find hope, God's abiding presence, and assurance and strength, then he will have to take that leap of faith.  He will find his answers only by getting involved in God's life.
