The Hard Road
As followers of Christ, we should anticipate seasons of suffering so we can respond as Jesus did. Jesus taught us that we should expect to have trouble in this world (John 16:33), preparing us for reality. The question we always want answered when we go through seasons of suffering is WHY? “What purpose could God possibly have for me going through this suffering?†This is an extremely difficult question theologically, because we may never know. However, the right question is HOW? How does God want me to handle this suffering I’m in?

Behind The Mask
What does God care most about? Keeping the end in mind, we want to value what God values – it doesn’t matter if I impress everyone around me here if I keep perspective on what’s really important. God cares more about what’s behind the mask than the quality of the performance.

A Chosen Example
Everyone models their life after others. We are influenced in our what we say, do, think, etc. by people that we respect. As we think about keeping the end in mind, we must think carefully about who we pattern our lives after, as well as considering what it is in our lives that others may be imitating. In this passage we find the model that Paul followed.
