The walls of Jerusalem, in heaps of rubbish, represent the desperate state of the world around, while the number and malice of those who hindered the building, give some faint idea of the enemies we have to contend with, while executing the work of God. Every one must begin at home; for it is by getting the work of God advanced in our own souls that we shall best contribute to the good of the church of Christ. May the Lord thus stir up the hearts of his people, to lay aside their petty disputes, and to disregard their worldly interests, compared with building the walls of Jerusalem, and defending the cause of truth and godliness against the assaults of avowed enemies.

Evaluating Brokenness
What is your plan for rebuilding your life? When rebuilding your life it may get worse before it gets better. When you decide to let God be in control of rebuilding your life it is then He can begin the good work in you. If you try to climb the ladder of success by yourself you may find that your ladder is leaning against the wrong wall. As with Nehemiah you may only see yourself a door mat, but trusting in God you can accomplish things in life beyond your wildest expectations.

The Heart Principle
Do we have a life or just exist? Building life is not easy but worth everything. Building correctly begins with the heart. The Lord is near to those who are close to him in their heart. As David did, ask the Lord to examine your heart. If you are living your life without God you are going nowhere. God designed us to do things that no one else can do. If you don't do the things God calls you to do' you has wasted your life.
