MOSES: A JOURNEY TOWARDS GOD
"The Round About Way of God"
Pastor Duane Cross | 10.19.08
I. PREPARATION
2. PRESENCE
3. POWER
4. PROVISION
"When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised land. God said. "If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt." So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle. (Exodus 13:17-18)
"The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided a light at night with pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. And the Lord did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people." (Exodus 13:21-22)
What's your response when led into the desert?
1. Whine
2. Blame
3. Trust
"For I know the plans I have for you, " says the Lord. "They are plans for good not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you, " says the Lord. "I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land." (Jeremiah 29:11-14)

III. PURIFICATION
"Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel's army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them,..." (Exodus 14:19)
