Trust

When the writer of Proverbs asks us to trust God in everything, is he asking for some type of blind faith?  How do we trust God in all situations?  The answer begins with what we believe about His character.  The lack of trust is very tightly knitted to a posture of fear.  And most of us, when we are really honest, carry a reasonable amount of fear in our posture towards God.  So to grow towards a posture of trust, we must address our posture of fear.  The bible is full of stories that address God’s character.  The resounding theme is that he is “slow to anger, abounding in love.”  In this sermon, Rick gives us a few snapshots of God walking with his people, and telling them to not be afraid.  These (among hundreds of other biblical examples) begin to paint a picture for us of a God who is, first and foremost, on our side.  God is with us.  God is relationally intimate.
