Walk in Grace
The Apostle Paul was aware that his days were numbered and with that came an even sharper focus of what was important in this life. In this wrap up of his second letter to Timothy, this great man of God leaves his final words. The pages are filled with exhortations to remain strong and to endure hardship, preach the gospel and press on.

Endurance has an Ending
People will not always want to listen to sound doctrine (Teaching) about Jesus Christ. It is much easier for us to make up our own gospel which is more amicable to our sensibilities. Paul exhorts Timothy not to punk out and turn from the truth to man made myths. When the world around us turns to a myriad of philosophies, religions and ideologies, our hope remains in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Deceptive Appearances
In the last days, meaning from the time of Christ until now, there will be great deception in both the church and culture.

Don't Swerve
The content of the Gospel message is absolutely critical in this call to endurance. The narrative of God’s covenant-keeping work in the world can be seen through the themes of creation, fall, redemption and recreation. And in the midst of this great story we can also get a glimpse into the heart of the Gospel, “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” (1 Cor. 15:3-4, ESV) We must walk on in the truth of this gospel.

Entrusting the Sacred
We live in a time when we have lost the sense of the sacred. In a culture that is obsessed with novelty we are hard pressed to see the value in the ancient, the eternal and sacred trust of the gospel. We need to see that some things should never be treated trivially and are worthy of our greatest hope and stewardship.

Beginning to Walk - An Overview of 2 Timothy
Woven throughout Paul’s last message to Timothy is the theme of endurance. This is not to say that we are called to just hold on for dear life as the big bad world just beats us down. No, like the endurance athlete, the hard-working farmer and the dedicated soldier we will suffer hardships, not just due to circumstances which are out of our control, but because of our personal desire to move forward in the mission set before us. Our’s is the mission of God, and Paul’s charge to Timothy and us is to Walk On with Jesus.

Death by Love and Life by Death
As such God himself, at great cost to his own Son, suffered for us and absorbed the penalty for sin. Why? That he might lavish mercy upon us and freely restore us to relationship with himself. He does the work and receives all glory.
