Playing Favorites

The disciples, like most people in their culture, thought that God preferred their religion and their race over other religions and other races. Does Jesus play favorites? Does God prefer one group over another today? The answers might surprise you.

Perception, Procession, Perspective

What was Jesus thinking? What were the thoughts of the people involved in the drama as Jesus reentered Jerusalem on what is now Palm Sunday? This message takes a look at the events of Luke 19 much as we examine major media events with pregame and post-game analysis. What were each group thinking, what did they believe, how did they see the events at the end of the day and how did their perceptions drive them to do what they did later in the week? In the end, we all need to decide which group we resemble most.

Failure or Future?

None of us are perfect and all of us fail from time to time. The message of scripture is for the people of God to keep their focus on the goal of heaven and never give up. We are called to get up when we're knocked down and keep moving forward with the knowledge that better days lie ahead.

Merger seminar - Rev. Dirk Elliot

This is the audio recording from a presentation on United Methodist church mergers by our East Ohio Conference Director of Congregational Development, Rev. Dirk Elliot. Representative from as many as seven different churches were in attendance. Because only Rev. Elliot had a microphone during the question and answer session, the questions are inaudible and have (in many cases) been edited out. We hope that what remains will be of value to you.
