The 7 Last Words - Anguish

This account begins by comparing the three hours of darkness to the 9th plague in Egypt before the Passover and the 10th and final plague with Jesus' death on the cross.

From here, the study moves into verse 46 and the feeling of abandonment or being forsaken. 

Why was Jesus forsaken?

  1. Because of sin
  2. Because of the holiness of God

The remarkable event that took place on the cross was a transference from our account to Jesus' account of our sin. God transferred all of it.

Jesus cried out because

  1. He felt the weight of sin
  2. God had to turn away at that moment
