Jude 5-7
Apostasy can be defined as an act of unpardonable rebelion against God and His truth; a conscious and willing departure from the faith among those who know it and "profess" to believe it. Jude cited three well-known acts of apostasy from the Old Testament as brief reminders to illustrate their damnable outcome as declared in Jude 4. These stories remind believers about the power of God's wrath and His judgement. In this message, Tim Kemrite exposits verses 5-7, which tell stories that exemplify 1) the impartialitiy of God's wrath (v. 5), 2) God's wrath on disobedient angels (v. 6), and 3) the eternality of God's judgement (v. 7).
As believers in Christ, we need to be wise, know God's Word, and be good Bereans. We also need to be watchful and be willing to stand for the gospel for those who need it. That means contending earnestly for the faith by standing firm in the gospel!
