God Working - Habakkuk 1:5-11

God breaks the silence with Habakkuk. He tells him to pay attention to the work He is doing in the world. God's work does not stop. He works in unlikely ways - using foreign nations to further His purposes. He works in unlikeable ways - using violent people to fulfill His plans. Habakkuk would watch God raise up the murderous Chaldeans to uproot the fading Assyrians. Thus, God's answer to one problem was another. However, when we step back and look at God's long-range purposes, His unlikely and unlikeable work points to a glorious end. Jesus' death on the cross is a primary example. And so, the lingering question - What is the evidence that God's working? - can be answered by the faithful response - Inspect every moment for traces of God's awesome work.
