Okay, dont freak about this crazy passage of Scripture, lets take it a step at a time. Its actually a great argument Paul uses against those who take pride in their keeping of the law … and the legalists of our day. They (Law-relying Jews) think Hagar is the enemy and that they are on the right team (Sarah). But Paul shows them how by relying on the works of the law over the promise by faith, they actually are the sons of the slave-woman Hagar. They boast in their own destruction, find their identity in slavery, and mock those who really are free. How sad, how tragically sad. Here is the great application of this passage: Dont let deluded people steal your freedom and rest in the promise that God blesses the barren one!
