Who's My Neighbor? Developing A Heart of Compassion
0 Amens
Empathy is when we are aware, understand and are sensitive to the needs of another. When we are empathetic we feel what someone else feels. But this is different than compassion. Compassion is when we see another in need, we feel the need deeply and we have the desire and resources to meet the need. When you see someone beat up by the world or jacked up in their own choices are you stirred in your soul to help? Or do you just get kind of sick in your stomach and turn the channel, thinking it just a guilt trip. Compassion is not a guilt trip. The fact is, as Christians, we have been shown the fruit of the greatest compassion of all…the grace and mercy of God found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. No, compassion is not a guilt trip, its a reasonable response to people in need.
