Head Christian or Heart Christian

I will only use my site name for these studies and sermons. So my name is Lioheartcr And I am an ordained Minister with Trinity Evangelical Christian Ministries of Toney AL on Jan 11, 2006. I think I can tell you I Live in Moultrie GA. This association does not help financially in starting A church so I have been trying to find grants etc. To get ministry started. Right now I am writing bible studies, Sunday School lessons and sermons to Eventually sell as lesson plans etc for different churches. When I get the website up and operating I will add it to my profile. For now though I want you to see the Doctrines of Lionheart Ministries

Doctrines of the

Church of the Lionheart

1. The reason for the name Lionheart and the Lion as our symbol is in Rev 5:5-A (New Living translation) 5. But one of the 24 elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has conquered, Jesus is the Lion of Judah. We must have the heart of Jesus in all we do.

2. We believe in God the trinity. That being God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

3. We believe that God sent his Son who was born on that first wonderful Christmas day Died 33 years later on that terrible Friday. Then he arose three days latter on that beautiful first Easter morning and is now sitting on the right hand of God.

4. We believe that Salvation is believing that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God that you should be baptized as an outward expression of an inward decision and that you are buried in Christ. (submerged in the baptismal) and that you arise in Christ a new creature.

5. We do believe in the Gifts but not as “Evidence” of the Holy Spirit. Those churches see evidence as proof. One person gets one gift another gets another.

6. We believe in tithing but only what you think is right The Old testament does speak of 10% But only what you feel led to give. You can also tithe your time to God as well. The time you spend teaching and preparing can be a tithe. The time you spend working on one of the productions we might do. Visitation, That can all be tithing.

7. We will be taking Communion once a month. The bread being a symbol of Christ’s body and the wine (Grape Juice) The symbol of the blood he shed for your sins & Ours.

8.We also believe you should become as involved as you can. Don’t be just a Pew warmer, If you have Ideas on something you might like to do, tell us. We might just start it.

9. We also believe in being the best Christians we can be so that when we get to heaven God will say “Well done good and faith full servant.”

10. We believe our missionary work should begin in our own Jerusalem (Town) First Then to our country, then to the world. Acts 1:8B (NIV) and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

11. We also believe that the “12 Commitments of the Knight’s of the Lionheart” are commitments we should live each day of our lives. They are as follows

12 Commitments of the

Lionheart Ministries

1. He/She is committed to putting God first an to have undying faith

2. He/She is committed to being the very best Person He/She can be.

3. He/She is committed to Love honor and Worship God.

4.He/She is committed to Godly Ethical & Moral standards

5. He/She is committed to becoming a Prayer Warrior. Praying for the needs of others

6. He/She is committed to spreading the good news

7. He/She is committed to study Gods word daily with mind & Heart

8. He/She is committed to allow the Holy Spirit to work in His/Her life as God would have.

9. He/She is committed to using His/Her fruits as God would have. Gal 5:22-23

10 He/She is committed to using His/Her gifts as God would have. 1st Cor. 12:7-11

11. He/She is committed to using His/Her talents as God would have Math. 25:14

12. He/She is committed to help His/Her Church all He/She can, Using fruits, Gifts, & Talents as God would have.

These are the main doctrines and beliefs of

Lionheart Ministries

So lets get started shall we.

Our Scriptures for today are

Galatians 6:7-10 Be not deceived: God is not mocked; for whatever a man shall sow, that also shall he reap. 8 For he that sows to his own flesh, shall reap corruption from the flesh; but he that sows to the Spirit, from the Spirit shall reap eternal life: 9 but let us not lose heart in doing good; for in due time, if we do not faint, we shall reap. 10 So then, as we have occasion, let us do good towards all, and specially towards those of the household of faith.

This is from the Darby Bible. Our other Scripture is Acts 5:1-10

5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2 and kept back (part) of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back (part) of the price of the land? 4 While it remained, did it not remain thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thy power? How is it that thou hast conceived this thing in thy heart? thou has not lied unto men, but unto God. 5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down and gave up the ghost: and great fear came upon all that heard it. 6 And the young men arose and wrapped him round, and they carried him out and buried him. 7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. 8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much. And she said, Yea, for so much. 9 But Peter (said) unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to try the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them that have buried thy husband are at the door, and they shall carry thee out. 10 And she fell down immediately at his feet, and gave up the ghost: and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her by her husband.

This is from the American Standard Version

I call this study

Are you a Head Christian or Heart Christian.

Lets say a prayer before we get started on this study.

Dear Lord,

I ask that this study is what you want me to say and not just a bunch of empty words that Sound theological. I ask that these words do make a difference in someone's life and helps them to know how to be a better Christian.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Let's talk about a head Christian first.

A head Christian is one who tithes like he should. Gives to the building fund, to Missions, sings in choir, is there for every work day, Is part of the men’s or Ladie’s groups, teaches Sunday School. They seem to be the finest example of a good Christian.

Now the bad part. This same person who seems so perfect at church is an absolute jerk during the week. This is how they really are they look at their Baptism as more of an initiation to a club or something not actually asking Jesus into their heart. During the week this person is a totally different person. They go to the local bar, or worse, a bar with women dancing topless or nude. They go to Daytona Fl. during bike week and they can't miss the wet T-shirt contest. (Men watching, Girls Or the girls got to be in it.) They tell dirty jokes at work, Make BAD fun of fellow employee's. Find ways to cheat their employer out of more money. They might even cheat on there spouse.

(Most psychologists will tell you If someone is married but brags about past men or women in their lives then they are probably cheating on there spouse right now.)

But come Sunday morning, well like the old saying goes, They sew wild oats on Saturday night, and come to church Sunday morning and pray for a crop failure. The head Christian was not serious when they became a Christian. I guess the best way to put it is they just went thru the motions and it wasn't a real honest decision from the heart. They just did it. And it might have honestly been so it looks good on their resume, Really.

For he that sows to his own flesh, shall reap corruption from the flesh.

That's Darby Bible

Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature.

That was from the New Living Translation or "The Book"

The one who sows to please his sinful nature from that nature will reap destruction.

That was from the New International Version or NIV.

So if the only reason you became a Christian is that people would think you are a better person then you will reap corruption or harvest decay. If the only reason you became a Christian is so you would have a better chance of joining the country club. If the only reason you became a Christian is to be part of the Methodist club, the Baptist club, the Catholic club, Then you are a head Christian. Now let me qualify that last remark, Not every Methodist, Baptist, or Catholic have to be in the upper-class part of the church but many think it means they are special if they are part of this church or that Church. It has nothing to do with being a Christian it is just a status symbol. Unfortunately I have met a few pastors in my town that are just as bad. Their status as a pastor is more important than savings souls, or teaching and preaching sermons that can make a difference. Preaching sermons God would be proud of.

Mathew Henry says this

Many excuse themselves from the work of religion, though they may make a show, and profess it. They may impose upon others, yet they deceive themselves if they think to impose upon God, who knows their hearts as well as actions; and as he cannot be deceived, so he will not be mocked. Our present time is seed time; in the other world we shall reap as we sow now. As there are two sorts of sowing, one to the flesh, and the other to the Spirit, so will the reckoning be hereafter. Those who live a carnal, sensual life, must expect no other fruit from such a course than misery and ruin.

Barns notes says this

For he that soweth to his flesh That makes provision for the indulgence of fleshly appetites and passions; He who makes use of his property to give indulgence to licentiousness, intemperance, and vanity. Shall of the flesh From the flesh, or as that which indulgence in fleshly appetites properly produces. Punishment, under the divine government, is commonly in the line of offenses. The punishment of licentiousness and intemperance in this life is commonly loathsome and offensive disease; and when long indulged, the sensualist becomes haggard, and bloated, and corrupted, and sinks into the grave. Such, also, is often the punishment of luxurious living, of a pampered appetite, of gluttony, as well as of intemperate drinking. But if the punishment does not follow in this life, it will be sure to overtake the sensualist in the world to come. There he shall reap ruin, final and everlasting.

B.W. Johnson says this

Be not deceived. Men often are. God is not mocked. They do fancy that God may be mocked. The immutable law of the spiritual kingdom shows that he is not.

NOW You can look like just the ABSOLUTE perfect Christian on Sundays and Wednesdays but if you don't stay that way all week 24/7 then you are mocking or making fun of God. “But pastor I can be any way I want to be during the week all I have to do is pray for forgiveness on Sunday and God will forgive me.” Look folks If you think prayer is an insurance policy so that every time you do something wrong and pray for forgiveness BUT DON”T DO ANYTHING TO CHANGE then to be honest you are praying to empty air. God won't listen if you don't come to pray with the right heart. A heart that knows you have done wrong. And you come wanting to change to be more Christ like. That is the literal meaning of the word Christian, Christ like. God who knows your heart as well as your actions. God knows if you are for real or not. If you really accepted Jesus or you just did it so you look like a better person. But when you are away from church you are a conniving alcoholic, that has to be the big boss that is a real jerk to his or her employees. They were the geeks in High School so they quite frankly gave their employers a real con job. They made their bosses think they were more than they really are. When in fact they don't deserve a position like that at all. They just wanted to Be able to boss other people around like they were bossed around in School. They quite frankly lied to get where they are. Sounds like a real good Christian doesn't it??? No they aren't. If this person was going to Church and doing as he should and being a Christian as God would have him, this person Him or her wouldn't be that way. unfortunately some of these people believe in eternal salvation which says once saved always saved. Yes that's true IF YOU ARE DOING YOUR BEST TO BE THE BEST CHRISTIAN YOU CAN BE!!! But if you went thru the motions and thought of it more as an initiation and went back to carousing in bars, telling dirty jokes, making fun of employees under you then on Sunday go to church and pray for forgivness but are just going thru the motions and don't really mean it, and you have been many years AFTER you went thru the motions then YOU ARE NOT SAVED you are a head Christian and well I hate to say it but

When the roll is called up yonder what a day of sorrow that will be. Your name won't be there. cause it didn't come from your heart.

Your name won't be in “The lambs book of life” you do still have a chance to change though here is the example of how you should be.

A heart Christian is one who tithes like he should. Gives to the building fund, sings in choir, teaches Sunday School. but might not give to missions because this teacher is being a missionary right here in this Jerusalem. Jesus said in

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Notice Jesus said Jerusalem or where they were when all that started so your town is your Jerusalem. This person is a missionary right here. So they take some personal money that they might give to the missionary fund and spend it maybe on special decorations for the Sunday School class or for Bibles for their Sunday School students. But they don't ask for the church to pay them back. They are also prayer warriors. They pray for the needs of their church and its members. and especially for the students they teach.

Mathew Henry says this

But those who, under the guidance and influences of the Holy Spirit, live a life of faith in Christ, and abound in Christian graces, shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. We are all very apt to tire in duty, particularly in doing good. This we should carefully watch and guard against. Only to perseverance in well-doing is the reward promised. Here is an exhortation to all to do good in their places. We should take care to do good in our life-time, and make this the business of our lives. Especially when fresh occasions offer, and as far as our power reaches.

Barnes says this

But he that soweth to the Spirit He who follows the leadings and cultivates the affections which the Holy Spirit would produce; Shall of the Spirit As the result of following the leadings of the Spirit. Shall Reap life everlasting

B.W. Johnson says this

Soweth to the Spirit. He shall reap spiritually, and as a final harvest the spiritual life beyond, the life everlasting. Let us not be weary in well doing. In sowing to the Spirit. Because, if we hold out faithful, and faint not, we are sure to reap in due season.

Now lets go back to Acts 5:1-10 I want to read it again to bring it back to

memory. I will use the Bible in Basic English

Acts 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, got money for his property, 2 And kept back part of the price, his wife having knowledge of it, and took the rest and put it at the feet of the Apostles. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why has the Evil One put it into your heart to be false to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4 While you had it, was it not your property? and after you had given it in exchange, was it not still in your power? how has this purpose come into your mind? you have been false, not to men, but to God. 5 And at these words, Ananias went down on the earth, and his life went from him: and great fear came on all who were present. 6 And the young men went and made ready his body, and took it out, and put it in the earth. 7 And about three hours after, his wife, having no knowledge of what had taken place, came in. 8 And Peter said to her, Give me an answer: was this amount of money the price of the land? And she said, Yes, it was. 9 But Peter said to her, Why have you made an agreement together to be false to the Spirit of the Lord? See, the feet of the young men who have put the body of your husband in the earth, are at the door, and they will take you out. 10 And straight away she went down at his feet, and her life went from her: and the young men came in and saw her dead, and they took her out and put her in the earth with her husband.

I am back to the head Christian here

Now here are a couple of people who are apparently Christians that put on a good face. But when it comes down to it they back off. They didn't give all the money they said they did. I guess these are like the head Christians because they cheated God. They tried to pay for their passport to heaven and cheated God when they did.

The Geneva Notes, PC Study Bible goes step by step and says this. Acts 5:1

But 1 a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

Luke shows by contrary examples how great a sin hypocrisy is, especially in those who under a false pretence and cloak of zeal seem to shine and be of great importance in the Church.

I want to repeat part of this,

Those who under a false pretence and cloak of zeal seem to shine and be of great importance in the Church.

They were head Christians.

Acts 5:2

And a kept back [part] of the price, his wife also being privy [to it], and brought a certain part, and laid [it] at the apostles' feet.

They Craftily took away a portion for themselves

My note here

If they had just been honest with the amount and said they kept some back for themselves that never would have happened.

Acts 5:3

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land?

For when they had appointed that farm or possession for the Church, they were foolish to keep away a part of the price, as though they were dealing with men, and not with God, and therefore he says afterwards that they tempted God.

Acts 5:4

Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

By this is meant an advised and purposeful deceit, and the fault of the man in listening to the devil's suggestions.

Acts 5:9

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband [are] at the door, and shall carry thee out.

Look how often men do things with an evil conscience; and so they pronounce sentence against themselves, and as much as in them lies, they provoke God to anger, as they do this on purpose, in order to test whether he is just and almighty or not.

They were foolish to keep away a part of the price, as though they were dealing with men, and not with God, and therefore he says afterwards that they tempted God.

How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord?

Willmington's guide to the Bible says this

about this scripture

A. The deception (vs 1&2)

Ananias & Saphira lied concerning the amount of a gift they presented to the Jerusalem Church after selling some of their possessions. Their Sin was in tempting God, that is, to see how far one can go in presuming upon Gods goodness.

B. The Discovery. (vs 3&4)

Ananias is exposed by Peter and executed by God for his sin of lying to the Holy Spirit. Three hours later Saphira is examined by Peter and after relating the same lie, is judged in the same manner as was her Husband.

What I am trying to say here is this, every time you do something against what is right and just. Every time you lie, every time you do anything against what God teaches then you are tempting God or getting him mad. If you don't straighten up you will wind up like Ananias & Saphira. Maybe not right away but well let me repeat something I said earlier.

When the roll is called up yonder what a day of sorrow that will be. Your name won't be there. cause it didn't come from your heart.

I guess the best and most simple way to put this is this Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. So Be the heart Christian God want's you to be. So you can reap the reward of heaven. And not the head Christian Satan want's you to be. I want to leave you with the words to a very special Gospel song by Rich Mullens called Awesome God but Carmen’s version called Awesome God. It goes like this

In the beginning God created the heavens because up to that time the earth was without form and void and darkness was on the face of the deep. But a phenomena was about to take place. because the spirit of God was hovering over those waters. Thats why after all this timeI can stand and say.

When he rolls up his sleaves

Our God is an awesome God
