Habits of the Mind

When we think of habits, we think of visible habits such as drug or alcohol addiction or compulsive behaviors of some sort. Rarely do we refer to habits of the mind. But being the center of recollection that it is (among other things), could it be that this is where we must focus our attention?

When Not Waiting Can Be Costly

What in common does shampoo have with a steamy adult shower scene or a car sales commercial with a bikini clad woman draped across the hood? It is said that Smart Marketing Strategies are those designed to provoke consumer spending and to do so, the content must be provocative, edgy if necessary and should aim to incite the emotions. My response to this is “HOW LOW CAN YOU GO? Studies show that emotions play a major role in impulse spending. Impulse spending isn’t the only vice that temptation provokes. Tune in to find out more.

God Will Not Excuse Bondage of Any Kind

Hearing God tell us to "suck it up" doesn't sound too pleasant, especially when you are the victim of a misfortune. Any normal person should ask why God would hold the hurting, violated or weak believer responsible for the direction that their lives take. After all, shouldn't He sympathize with those who were victims? Shouldn't He pardon all who are in their situations because someone sinned AGAINST them? Does God expect too much? Is He a fair God? Is it right for Him to force us out of our comfort zones?

Encouragement in Times of Hostility Towards the Gospel

Thank God for His Word which not only gives us a glimpse of the past, but prepares us for what we should expect in our future. One of the things Christ cautioned the church about was the persecution of the church. In His own words, “ye shall be hated for my names’ sake”. So how can believers be effective and live abundantly in a world that does not welcome them or their God? How do we avoid discouragement or prevent becoming calloused over concerning the sharing of our faith? How do we operate in love and keep a smile when we are the objects of scorn and ridicule? Worst of all, what do we do when our worse critics are those we are trying to win?
