What Led You to this Church?

How do you choose the right church for your family? What do you look for in a church? What is important to you? Are there any non-negotiable beliefs that need to be settled before you make your decision? Today's message is an exposition of Matthew 16:13-20. It is the very first time that Jesus talks about the church. Let's find out what the non-negotiable principles are for His Church.

Staying the Course

We must remain constant and unchanging in our pursuit of changing. Characteristics of People who stay the course: 1. They are engaged in a ongoing pursuit of God 2. They understand ownership. 3. They realize that current experience and opinion may have little apparent relevance to what is ultimately taking place 4. Their decisions are not based on the probability of success. Characteristics of people who have plateaued: 1. They decide when they are close enough 2. God isn't doing much more in their lives. 3. Its someone else’s fault 4. They change their goals rather than change their ways. Are you staying the course or have you plateaued?

Celebrating The Gift

Today is the third Sunday that you are hearing how God wants to impact this community through Maple City Chapel. We are not the only church in town! We bless the churches around usand join in the spirit of a united mission for the cause of Christ. I do believe we have a unique call of God to share his message in a culterally relevant way that impacts this community and reaches out to the unchurched and calls the nominal Christians to spiritual renewal.

Celebrating Connections

The Jerusalem church had over 3000 members who met as a large group at the temple courts for worship. It was made up of people from all over the world. They often did not have the close support of relatives, either because of distance or they were disowned by family after they became believers. Instead the church became their family. they shared their lives by supporting each other, using their house to house meetings as a way of fulfilling this need.

Celebrating the Second Chapter

Our vision and mission clearly centers on being an authentic Acts Chapter 2 Church. We are not married to any tradition. Neither will we follow the liberal trend of minimizing the WORD OF GOD! We believe the church as God planned it is THE HOPE OF THE WORLD. My purpose this morning is to share with you five authentic pillars of an Acts Chapter Two Church and invite those of you who have come on board the past several years to be part of the second chapter of what God is doing at Maple City Chapel.

Managing Emotions

Our emotions are a gift from God. Expressed in a proper manner, emotions make life beautiful, rich, full, eliminate monotony and contribute much to both the enjoyment and effectiveness of living. Negative emotions can also be responsible for some of the greatest tragedies in life. Whether our lives are meaningful or miserable may be directly related to the health of our emotions.

Managing Contentment

In our expository sermon series taken from the book of James, one would think that considering the hopelessness of the situation, to "be outraged" or to "give up in despair" would be the next normal response. However, both giving in to the world and attacking the world are wrong. In today's message James spends the next six verses explaining to us how to manage contentment in a complex world.

Managing Priorities

Money has a dehumanizing function of measuring value, and it therefore leads people to pursue the goal of having instead of being. Jesus reveals money as power. Power also has great spiritual value, so money and wealth can be used for great good or for evil. This is one of the most "in your face" scriptures in the New Testament about the consequences of wrong priorities.

Managing the Pace of Life

This section of scripture begins with a short blunt expression, "now listen" to grab our attention. There may be no area in our lives that God has greater interest in, than in how we manage the pace of our lives.
