“How to Pray” Advent Series

Anna, the Long Time Prayer Warrior

Scriptures: Luke 2:36-38; 11:5-13; 18:1-8

Will you join me in honoring Anna? (Luke 2:36-38)

1.    For being a prophetess.

2.    For being a 24/7 prayer warrior.

3.    For being hopeful.

4.    For being a “Walk Across The Room” person.

What does Anna teach us about prayer?

1.    To never stop praying. (Luke 18:1-8)

a.    WHY? Because people who quite praying will eventually lose ­­_______ and lose ________

2.    To be shameless in our persistence. (Luke 11:5-8)

a.    HOW? Get over our pride and independence.

3.    To wait on God. (Luke 11:9-10)

a.    BECAUSE waiting seems to get us on target.

4.    That prayer is not an overcoming of God’s reluctance but laying hold of His highest willingness.

a.    PROOF – “The door will be opened to you”; “And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him?”; “How much more will your heavenly Father know how to give you the very best of gifts.”
