HOW THIRSTY ARE YOU?

John 7:37-39)

Pentecost Sunday

37. On the last day and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out with a loud voice saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

38. “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

39. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

Historical setting of this scripture:

Do you Know What you are Thirsty for?

  1. Come to Me
  2. Drink
  3. Believe in Me as the Scriptures say
  4. Out of your heart will flow rivers (springs) of living water

What is the Nature of These Springs?

  1. The living Springs come by receiving the Holy Spirit
  2. The supernatural Springs flowing from this Rock are now in us
  3. The power effected in us goes far beyond our natural ability
  4. The Springs can dry up and they can be revived

The Holy Spirit came on Pentecost (Acts 1: 4-8; 2: 1-42)

  1. They waited because they were thirsty
  2. The Holy Spirit came upon them in a visible presence
  3. It turned cowardly persons hung up with their personal junk into bold powerful ambassadors for Christ.
  4. Miracles, signs, wonders, gifts and fruit came with the Spirit
  5. The promise of the Holy Spirit is to all men, women, sons and daughters

Let those who are thirsty come; and let all who wish take the free gift of the water of life. (Revelation 22:17)
