“HOW TO PRAY” ADVENT SERIES
Scriptures: Luke 1:5-25; Matthew 6:5-8
Zacharias in a crises and the opportunity of his life time (Luke 1:5-25)
The problem:
He and his wife, Elizabeth, were childless.
They were both well advanced in years.
The opportunity of his life time:
He was chosen by lot to go into the most holy place of the temple to burn incense.
He used this opportunity of a life time to petition God for a son.
God heard and answered his prayer.
They would be given a son who would prepare the way for the Lord:
He will be a joy and delight to you.
Many others will rejoice at his birth.
He will be great in the sight of the Lord.
He will bring many in Israel back to the Lord.
He will come in the spirit and power of Elijah.
Six principles on how you are to pray (Matthew 6:5-8)
1. Don’t pray for show.
2. Pray in the inner chamber. (Bridal identity).
3. Close the door (Your Father is already there).
4. Your Father who is in the secret place will reward you openly.
5. Don’t try to manipulate God with your many words.
6. The Father knows what you need before you ask.
