Pressing On Toward The Goal

Philippians 3:7-14

Paul says he has many reasons to put confidence in the law.

His “religious pedigree” includes circumcision, tribe of Benjamin, a pharisee, and legalistic righteousness.

Everything Paul once considered profit he now sees as loss and calls it all rubbish.

Paul speaks of a righteousness that comes from law and a righteousness that comes from God by faith.

In Philippians 3:10, Paul wants to know three things. He wants to know Christ. He wants to know the power of His resurrection and he wants to know the fellowship of sharing in his suffering.

Paul realizes that he has not fully realized or attained his goal but he has purposed in his heart and is determined to press on.

He says, “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I Press on.
