[Almost] Everything I Needed to Know About Stewardship...
The full title of this sermon is "[Almost] Everything I Needed to Know About Stewardship I Learned on the Farm." Pastor Tim, a Kansas farmboy, lines out a model for good stewardship based on the cycles of life on a Kansas grain farm as he recalls it from his childhood.

The God Who Dwells in the Gaps
Wayne and Lois Hochsteter bring us this message, reflecting on their work with Mennonite Mission Network during 2009. An additional text is Romans 8:31-39. Using the slogan from the London Underground, or Tube, "Mind the gap," Wayne and Lois explore the many gaps (or spaces between things) they and other mission workers experience in life. In so doing, they have discovered that God is present, or dwells, in those gaps, or spaces.

The Long and Winding Road Home
The building of the Temple of the Lord sometimes goes well, and sometimes less so, and is always a journey of faith. How is this project going for our congregation at the moment?

The Wrong Quest for Our Times
Count the questions God asks Job in chapters 31-41 of Job. Those chapters are a monumental testimony to "I don't know" being the correct answer at times. How do we live with uncertainty in anxious times that demand sure answers? An additional text is Hebrews 2:8b-9.

Reality Check 808
The perennial question, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" is given another go-round. God's transcendence is a key understanding. An additional text is Matthew 6:28-30.

Ask the Animals
Additional texts for this sermon include Job 12:1-10 and Hosea 4:1-4a. Many instances in the Bible show animals involved in the revealing of God's truth to humanity. Are we missing out on God's truth revealed anew each day because we have disconnected ourselves from the rest of creation? The Old Testament prophets beat us to the answer and said "Yes" millenia ago! What does Genesis reveal about the first human job description and how can it inform our creation care? Who in the great Christian tradition can serve for us as role models? Did the Anabaptists have anything to say about it?

Leading the Nations
The texts are from Ezekiel 37:1-14 (the valley of dry bones) and Mark 10:42-45. The time is coming when even the nations will take their cues from the moral leadership of God's people.

An Un-Reality Check
God is doing new things, but not in discontinuity with God's character. It is the FORM that is new (unreal), but reference back tro what God has always been about.

God's Protection: Amen and Amen
Romans 8:35-39 is an additional text for this sermon. We take heart from knowing that our calls to God for protection are always answered. But we need open minds to the workings of God in order to hear these answers.
