  1. What is joy?
    • Emotion that causes the inward being to take delight and express heightened pleasure and satisfaction.
  2. Why does God repeat the command twice?
    • Might be tempted to think it impossible since one can't "command" emotions.
    • Our will is to determine our affections
    • There is a means whereby we are able.
  3. What are the enemies to rejoicing always in the Lord?
    • Doubt regarding God's character and/or God's promises
    • Selfishness
    • Worldliness
    • Impatience
  4. What is the solution?
    • Cultivate joy –by letting my mind dwell on the truth of Jesus Christ so that in all things I see the hand of God –in every detail of life.
    • "The Lord is at hand" (Phil 4:5)
    • Joy is in reference to God Almighty, who rejoices over you!
