Jesus tells His disciples that it's good news that He's leaving, because as a result of Jesus' leaving He sends them the Holy Spirit. This is good news, because the Holy Spirit empowers us in advancing Jesus' mission, as He convicts the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment.
In John 17 Jesus tells us how it is that unbelieving people come to faith -- by observing the unity between believers. In this teaching we dig into what kind of unity Jesus has in mind, and how that kind of unity can be attained -- so that lost people will come to trust Jesus.
Because of Jesus' death on the Cross, God can adopt us and become our Father; we can move from facing God's wrath as our Judge, to resting in God's love as our Father.
