My Page in God's Story

We believe that God is on a mission to redeem and restore the entire creation and it is His good plan for God's glory to be revealed through the followers of Jesus Christ. This means that if you could read the entire story of God's mission in the world, each page would tell of the life of a Christian. So what does your page in God's story look like? What does it say and who needs to hear your story and how can you creatively tell them?

The Mission of God

This Sunday will introduce the sermon series “Missio Dei: The Mission of God.” In John 14 we read that we are friends of Jesus because we know the business of the master, so this series will seek to help us know what God's business and mission really is. The bulk of the sermon will explore the mission of God described in Romans 8:16-29. God’s desire to seek and save the lost is part of his larger plan to liberate and glorify the entire creation. In fact, the entire creation groans in anticipation of the fulfillment of this mission. Incredibly, God calls on His people to join him in this mission as co-witnesses, co-heirs, and much more. God is on a mission. Will you join?

Finish this Sermon

In the beginning of this sermon, Bill Day talks about the Scriptural importance of laying on of hands and prayer when leadership is passed in the church. He then calls Kent up, lays hands on him, blesses him, and reads a passage Paul wrote to his disciple Timothy. After this, Kent talks about how the Tower of Babel shows us that when people work together with one language nothing is impossible for them. This is further reinforced in Acts 2 at the Feast of Pentacost when the Apostles proclaim the Gospel with one voice heard in all languages through the power of the Spirit. Now we too can do great things through the unity of the Spirit.

Mary's Prophetic Song

In Luke 1 there are two powerful prayers that burst forth in song. The first is from a young mother who is visited by an angel who tells her that, although a virgin, she is about to be pregnant with the Son of God. The second is a priest, serving in the Temple, when an angel tells him he will have a child in his old age. The two of them sing praises to God for the goodness he has shown them, but also for the great expectations they have for God's Kingdom because of their two baby boys.

Seeing the Kingdom

Jesus had an incredible ability to see what mattered most: the things of the spiritual realm and the Kingdom of God. We too often get caught up in the things of this world. This sermon demonstrates how Jesus saw the world and challenges Christians to seek the eyes of Christ.
