We're Not There Yet

Pastor Louie Foerster challenges Olathe View to keep pressing on toward the mission God has for us as he intends to do as he assumes the pastorate in Ringgold, Louisiana. Brother Louie has faithfully served with us here at OVBC for the past 14 years. He and his family have had a tremendous influence on many here. We rejoice with him as God moves him to higher ground. His challenge to us was (1) Stop looking back (2) Keep going forward (3)Press toward the mark (4) Work together (5) Follow good examples and leave a good example (6) Finish strong.

Our Identification with Christ Through Baptism

In Romans 6, Paul answers an objection that was common back in his day and relatively common today - the Antinomian view that once saved, people were released from the obligation of observing the moral law of God. This, of course was not the intention of God. God saved us to deliver us from sin, not give us a license to sin all the more. Then Paul lays a foundation in the next three verses to help us understand the very foundation of our sanctification - we are united with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. When Christ died to sin, we died with Him. We no longer have any allegiance to sin, but rather to live unto the holy One who died for us.

A Dynamic Body of Christ

We are the body of Christ. We are His hands, His feet, His eyes, His Ears and His lips. We are His representatives, and we need to represent Him as He is - a dynamic God. By definition the word dynamic incorporates the ideas of faithfulness, fruitfulness and godliness. Most of us would agree that individual believers should be all of the above, but HOW? This message communicates five pathways to dynamic Christian living. Listen and be challenged.

We Are Already Dead to Sin

The 6th chapter of Romans is vital to our understanding the key elements of our sanctification. Paul begins with a foundational concept - When Christ died on the cross - we died with Him. We cannot crucify ourselves, as much as we may try, we will never succeed. Our death to sin is not something we accomplish by our own self-will, it has already been accomplished 2000 years ago on the cross of Calvary. This is a work of grace that has already been accomplished by our Savior. This is a fact for us to reckon with by faith and the very basis of the sanctifying work God is trying to accomplish in us who are genuinely born again.

Three Prospects That Promote Life and Godliness

All of us who know the Lord need to keep on growing. And if we expect to grow in godliness, three aspects of our spiritual life are sure to increase: (1) Our knowledge of God (2) The cultivation of a fruitful life (3) The way we heed to the Word of God
