Text: 1 Corinthians 15:20-22,  2 Timothy 1:10

1.      jesus can reverse the death dealing power of a hopeless future

a.      Luke 7:11-17 “…the only son of his mother and she was a widow.”

b.      In the culture of that time a widow usually ended up begging alms to survive

c.       Jesus’ resurrection life will reverse the death-dealing power of any hopeless future – long or short term- that you or I face

2.      jesus can reverse the power of confused thinking about god

a)      John 11:1-44(4-6, 20-27, 33-44) “…he who died came out…”

b)     We live in a world that will pass judgment on God if He doesn’t show up at the beck and call of every human circumstance

c)      We cannot judge God’s interest in us by the way we judge His timing

d)     Jesus’ resurrection confirms His ability to reverse a dead situation; one that kills feelings in our heart, annihilates trust in our soul, or stifles our confidence

3.      jesus can reverse the power of fatalistic declarations

a)      Luke 8:49-56 “…your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.”

b)     In the light of that moment there would be no future, no possibility for anything changing. We had a plan but it didn’t work

c)      Perhaps you have said or been told fatalistic things about your future
