Text: Ephesians 4:17-24

•1.     like the ephesian believers we must learn christ

•a)       ...be transformed by the renewing of your mind  (Romans 12:2)

• b) The Ephesians did not learn about Christ they became imitators of Him.
• c) They heard Him (v21) Emphasis is on response (John 10:27)
• d) They were taught by Him (John 14:26, 1 John 2:27)

•2.     your own efforts cannot bring about true change

• a) You can modify, only Christ can transform

•b)       ...and be renewed in the spirit of your mind ...(v23)

•a)       Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed... (Romans 12:1-2)

•3.     change requires the jettison of the old man

• c) Putting-off (v22) is preceded by birth; The New Man (John 3:3-6,1 Peter 1:23)

•b)       Your word is truth (John 17:17)

•4.     the new man is beginning of a new way of living

• a) If the resurrected Christ teaches a person, change results

•b)       ... according to the image of Him who created him.(Colossians 3:9-11)

•5.     growth requires food and water

•a)       ...that He might make you know ...(Deut 8:3, Luke 4:3-4)

...whoever drinks of the water that I shall give (John 4:14, John 6:35)
