Nehemiah is the model for ministry and in this case the subject is spiritual warefare. Nehemiah met resistance and conflict from the moment he arrived on the scene in Jerusalem. His enemies did all they could to distract him, even plot his murder. However, Nehemiah wouldn't be distracted but kept his eye on the work needing to be done. Four principles are then drawn upon to unpack this message. In order to win a war you must employ these four principles.

1. You must know that you are in a war.

2. You must know the kind of war you are in.

3. You must know your enemy.

4. You must know what it will take to beat him and win the war.
